The Restructure

Many of you probably have questions about what we’ve done and what it means for both the artist and the patron. The public community meeting Bare held in May 2018 provided us with a tremendous amount of constructive feedback. We decided that, as a company, it was time to reassess, restructure, and rebrand! We spent the summer and fall making some big adjustments to Bare operations.

Because we want to be faithful to the community feedback, the process will take some time for us to truly discover how best to do things. Over the course of the restructuring, here are some highlights of the things you can expect from Bare Theatre:

  • create a new visual scheme and color palette for the Bare Theatre brand
  • design an entirely new, user-friendly website
  • use social media as a primary means of outreach
  • discover and nurture new and diverse talent
  • reestablish our commitment to affordable, intensive summer opportunities for young artists
  • open the production proposal process to the public
  • revise our financial structure with a focus on affordable tickets, membership options, and minimal-cost creation
  • increasing administrative support and guidance for producers, directors, casts, and crews
  • develop a mediation process that encourages positive, meaningful collaboration
  • implement strict timelines for production development, from auditions to postmortems
  • create a calendar of shows in comfortable working environments and with planning time in between
  • incorporate trained intimacy direction when appropriate for a production
  • reengage with our roots: simple, eclectic, non-traditional and spontaneous theatre

Please feel free to reach out to us on this website, social media, or directly to any of our board members if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,

The Bare Theatre Board of Directors
