It’s always an honor to work with such astonishing talent in the Triangle. We are very fortunate to have so many visionary artists, passionate actors, and creative crew members in this area. At the end of each year Byron Woods, theatre critic for Indy Week, selects a handful of favorite productions from among this vast artistic talent pool. Congratulations to everyone included in this year’s honors!
This year Bare Theatre is honored to have TWO shows included on the list: Let Them Be Heard and Coriolanus. To all of the actors, crew members, design crew, volunteers, guides and audience members who took part in these productions – THANK YOU! This is ensemble work and everyone shares in this fantastic recognition.
We want to also thank Historic Stagville and The ArtsCenter for making Let Them Be Heard what it is. Thanks also to David Serxner and Hope Plantation, and Karen Hayes with Somerset Place State Historic Site for hosting us on the summer tour. A special “thank you” goes to Katie Hyde with Duke University and the incredible students at the Durham School for Creative Studies who invited us to be part of their work on NC slave history. We’d also like to give thanks to the NC Departments of Administration & Facilities and the State Capitol Police for their assistance with Coriolanus.
Congratulations to everyone involved, and thank you for making this such a special year!
