Fans of Andrew Lloyd Webber get a chance to experience his first two produced works (which both happen to be biblical rock operas). “Jesus Christ Superstar” opens this week at NC Theatre (“Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” opens next week at William Peace Theatre).

My Fair Lady – Apr. 5 – 29, Paul Green Theatre, UNC-Chapel Hill – Playmakers Rep stages what many consider to be the greatest musical of all time, the Lerner & Loewe adaptation of George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion, in which lowly flower girl Eliza Doolittle learns how to become a lady
On Golden Pond – Apr. 7 – 23, Theatre in the Park, Raleigh – Earnest Thompson’s 1979 drama about a retired couple and the struggles husband Norman faces with his daughter won Tony and Drama Desk awards before taking home several Oscars in the 1981 film adaptation (also penned by Thompson)
Revival – Apr. 2 – May 7, Ward Theatre Company, Durham – Ward Theatre stages a cultural and musical collage set in 1950’s Appalachia
Romeo and Juliet – The Remix (CLOSING) – Apr. 7 – 15, NC Central University, Durham – NCCU University Theatre retells and reimagines Shakespeare’s classic tragedy of misguided love
