Thus we debase the nature of our seats and make the rabble call our cares fears; which in time break ope the locks o’ the senate and bring in the crows to peck the eagles.”
Bare Theatre opens its tenth season with the tragedy of Coriolanus, on the site of the Moral Monday protests in Downtown Raleigh.
William Shakespeare’s play, believed to have been written sometime between 1605 and 1608, is a probing look at political hubris and the disconnect between populace and leaders. Its themes are as fresh in 2014 as ever.
Bare Theatre continues to explore environmental theatre in motion as it has with the critically acclaimed Let Them Be Heard. This production will take place outdoors and will move from location to location by foot, covering almost a half mile over the course of the play. Though there will be an intermission and audiences will be able to sit at a few certain points during the show, audience members should wear comfortable shoes and clothing appropriate for outdoors, and be prepared to move about the space as the show progresses.
ARRIVAL – Showtime is promptly at 7:30 each night. Latecomers will need to be escorted to where the show is taking place on the premises and will miss part of it. Please arrive early to give yourself time to find the location! SEE MAP BELOW
PARKING – Audience members should park in the lot at 406 N Wilmington St, or along Polk St. in marked spaces just north of the parking lot. SEE MAP BELOW
BOX OFFICE – The “Lobby” & Box Office will be located in the courtyard across the street from the 406 N Wilmington St. parking lot. This courtyard is between the Revenue and Public Education buildings along N Wilmington St. SEE MAP BELOW

Audience members will be able to use the facilities at Burning Coal Theatre at the Murphey School, located just 2 blocks east of Halifax Mall. We strongly recommend using restrooms before you arrive, or arrive BEFORE 7:15 pm in order to use the facilities at Burning Coal.
RUN-TIME/INTERMISSION – The first “half” of the show runs 75 minutes and the second “half” runs 45 minutes, for a total run-time of 120 minutes. There will be one 15-minute intermission, during which time audiences may use the restrooms at Burning Coal Theatre, 2 blocks east of Halifax Mall.
THIS IS AN OUTDOOR SHOW – Audience members should dress appropriately for weather. Temperatures are often moderate during this time of year, but nights can cool off quite a bit. If you tend to get cold, please bring a jacket, hat, gloves – anything you need to be comfortable!
THIS SHOW INVOLVES WALKING AND STANDING – Audience members should wear comfortable shoes to walk in – high heels are not advisable! There are a few opportunities for audience members to sit on steps and ledges along the way, but attendees should be prepared to walk and stand for most of the performance.
